Cassie: From Broken Leg in Georgia to a Happy Home in New Jersey

Cassie was found in Georgia (the country) with a severely broken leg. In the condition she was in, she had very little chance of surviving on her own.

Thankfully, she was found in time and brought to safety. Cassie received the medical care she desperately needed. Her injured leg had to be amputated, but she recovered beautifully.

Today, Cassie is thriving. She runs, plays, and enjoys life just like any other dog. She was adopted in New Jersey and is now living a very happy life.

Cassie is one of many dogs rescued through our partnership with Dogs on Road in Batumi, Georgia. Together, we help dogs get the care, safety, and second chance at life.

2025 Milestones: Spay, Vaccinate, Rescue, Repeat

What is Sochi Dogs all about? We are more than a dog rescue; we are a community. We believe in building bridges and participating in a larger global dialogue that, despite wars, hardships, and economic instability, is determined to make a positive impact in the world.

This year, we spayed hundreds of dogs and cats through our programs in Ukraine and Georgia. We purchased thousands of vaccines, delivered thousands of pounds of food to our partners in Dnipro and Kharkiv, and helped nearly 100 formerly homeless dogs find loving homes.

Together, We Did It!

Another successful Georgia Rescue Mission in the books! This is our 4 rescue mission in the last 30 days — we’re thrilled to save so many dogs off the street but we’re also exhausted!

Here is a glimpse of what the last 48 hours of each rescue mission looks like. After the rescues, vet visits, vaccinations, evaluations, logistic configurations, and paperwork… the Dogs on Road crew drives everyone gathers together for baths, and the long drive from Batumi to the Tbilisi airport, they get loaded up into crates, meet the flight volunteer and are on their way us at JFK.

We are so grateful to work with the amazing volunteers at Dogs on Road to make these rescue missions a reality!

Celebrating A Dog in Georgia

We had such a fun time at Boris & Horton, chatting with Lauren Grodstein about her new novel, A Dog in Georgia, and celebrating the amazing rescue dogs of Georgia (the country).

If you love dogs, are curious about Georgia and its culture, or simply enjoy a good, heartfelt story, this book is for you. It beautifully reflects the kinds of dogs, places, and people we’ve come to know and love through our rescue work in Georgia.

You can pick up a copy at your local bookstore or order it here: https://bookshop.org/.../a-dog-in.../7235a3e9a328814f

We’re so grateful to Lauren and everyone who joined us to support stories and dogs from Georgia.
