26 Dogs Saved from a Frontline Village

Our partners in Dnipro, Ukraine, carried out an incredibly difficult rescue mission and brought 20 puppies and 6 adult dogs to safety from an abandoned village near the front lines.

The conditions were harsh. It was cold and snowy, and the dogs, after everything they had endured, were understandably frightened and cautious. Many had been left behind with little chance of surviving on their own. Reaching them, gaining their trust, and bringing them to safety was not easy, but the Dnipro team did not give up.

Thanks to their courage and determination, 26 dogs are now safe. These dogs still have a long road ahead of them, but now they have something they did not have before: warmth, safety, care, and a chance for a better future.

But the mission is not over yet. More dogs are still waiting there, and the team plans to return in the coming days to rescue as many as possible.

200 Dogs, 200 Vaccines: Keeping Dnipro Shelter Safe for the 3rd Year.

For the third year in a row, we’re providing vaccines for every resident at the Dnipro Shelter in Ukraine. That’s 200 rabies and DHPPI vaccines, so all the dogs are healthier and protected from preventable diseases.

In a country at war, access to basic vet care becomes extremely difficult. Shelters are overwhelmed, resources are stretched thin, and yet the dogs keep coming. Making sure every dog at Dnipro is vaccinated means they have one less danger to face.

This work would not be possible without you. Donate and join our community of believers, dog-lovers, and do-gooders. When we come together, we can do so much.

From Street to Family Members — 10 Years Later.

Wrapping up the year by celebrating two 10-year adoptaversaries! Congrats to Lida and Fiona from the original Sochi shelter, who both celebrated 10 years with their forever humans. Both were once homeless dogs who've grown into amazing family pets.

Lida's family says, "A decade of love looks good on you! Lida is the sweetest, silliest, and most loyal girl. She pretty quickly grew from a nervous little thing to a confident lady! She loves her 2 little human sisters, 2 senior dog brothers, and helped make a dozen foster dogs feel right at home. I love and appreciate her more than I could say. Thank you again, Sochi Dogs!"

2025 Milestones: Spay, Vaccinate, Rescue, Repeat

What is Sochi Dogs all about? We are more than a dog rescue; we are a community. We believe in building bridges and participating in a larger global dialogue that, despite wars, hardships, and economic instability, is determined to make a positive impact in the world.

This year, we spayed hundreds of dogs and cats through our programs in Ukraine and Georgia. We purchased thousands of vaccines, delivered thousands of pounds of food to our partners in Dnipro and Kharkiv, and helped nearly 100 formerly homeless dogs find loving homes.
