Sky’s Story

Sky showed up at Vlada's dental office looking for help. She was starving and covered in fleas. After a big meal, Sky settled in for a nap. The first time she could cuddle up somewhere warm and not have to worry she might not be safe.

Sky slept and slept and when the workday was over Vlada took her to a foster home to get cleaned up and settle in. There we discovered that Sky has a beautiful white coat, a loving personality, and a small limp. A visit to the vet showed that the limp is a result of being hit by a car. It doesn't bother Sky and she adores romping around with the other dogs, cats, and play with a little boy at her foster home.

Sky is arriving in NJ on Wednesday and we are looking for the perfect forever family home. Are you ready? Fill out an adoption application.

Welcome Polly and Family

Polly is a smart girl who stayed around a hotel where tourists sometimes gave her food. She knew it wasn’t safe but she was very cautious, she only came out in the evenings and would hide during the day. One evening she came to her hotel and gave birth to 7 puppies, right near the entrance. She didn’t have a choice and she didn’t have any other place to go. It was cold and someone gave her food and a blanket and that was it.

It would have been a very sad story but it just so happened that Sochi Dogs founder Vlada was nearby and someone told her that there is a dog with 8 puppies that were just born and they are on the street. Vlada knew they needed to find a place to stay immediately and she was able to get permission to move the family into a tech closet in the basement of the hotel. The whole family is warm, fed and most importantly safe. As soon we have some room they’ll be able to move into the shelter.

BREAKING NEWS

After local and international pressure, the city of Sochi has announced that it will pause its contract with the extermination agency hired to control the population of stray dogs and allocated those funds to spay and neuter 909 homeless animals.

Sochi Dogs is so proud to be part of the dedicated group of animal lovers that helped bring about this important change.

This announcement is a small step towards a more just and humane future for homeless dogs but our work is far from over. We will continue offering low-cost spay and neuter services to families who can't afford the procedure for their pets. Our efforts to help dogs on the street will only expand. For the next few months, we will be able to rest easy knowing that at least for now no-one will be coming after these helpless animals.

Zadie Joins Sochi Dogs

Meet Zadie! We found this sweet girl at the municipal shelter in Sochi where she had no chances of ever getting adopted. Not only that, she was also suffering from severe inflammation in her right eye preventing her from seeing. We couldn't watch this girl suffer, so we asked if she could join our shelter.

When Zadie first arrived she was greeted by Katya, who told her we'd get her fixed and she'd have a great time at the shelter. Katya was right! The next day we took Zadie to our vet who examined her eye and saw the only way to fix the problem was to have it removed. Zadie's surgery was a success and she was so excited to be back at the shelter! Watch the video of her coming back. Zadie will be available for adoption soon!
