Three Tiny Puppies, One Kind Foster Home, and a Second Chance

These three little boys were only about 2.5 months old when they were found on the side of the road.

A driver was on his way to the vet with another dog when he saw them and stopped. He reached out to ask if we could help. Otherwise, they likely would have been hit by a car and not survived. Of course, we said yes!

They spent the next 10 days at the vet, where they were dewormed, stabilized, and vaccinated. And now, instead of facing danger alone, they have moved into a very special foster home. A senior in the community opened up her home and her heart to them while they wait for their forever families. It means so much to know that these puppies are not only safe but also cared for, loved, and given the chance to simply be puppies.

We are covering their food and veterinary care, and also paying their foster mom a small fee for looking after them. So this support goes in two directions: it helps these three little guys stay safe and cared for, and it also helps someone in the community who needs a little support too.

This is the kind of work that matters so much to us, helping dogs in need while also supporting the people who make rescue possible on the ground.

A Journey to Peace

These 15 dogs currently at the Dnipro shelter don’t know it yet, but their lives are about to change forever. A small shelter in Bulgaria has stepped up to give them a chance to leave the war behind and find forever loving homes.

The preparations for their journey began well over a month ago with blood tests, vaccinations, preventative treatments, and documentation to get them into the EU. A special van has been booked, and in just a few short days, everyone will be loaded up for the nearly 20-hour journey along the Black Sea to bring them to safety.

Among the passengers will be Cuba, who was found with her 7 puppies in the Vasylivka village after most of the residents had fled. With the ongoing shelling, she had no chance of surviving on her own, alone with her 7 puppies! Her puppies are now grown up in forever homes in Western Ukraine, and now it's Cuba’s turn to find her happily ever after.

Her friend Nusha will be by her side. Nusha is from the same village. She was found with wounds on her feet and belly, making life on the street incredibly difficult.

We can’t even begin to imagine what Cuba, Nusha, and the other 13 dogs will think when they are unloaded from the van and brought into a quiet, warm space with plenty of food, soft beds, and a dedicated team ready to help them find their forever humans. Sochi Dogs has committed to sponsoring the journey and all the preparations for it.

Rescue Under Fire: Saving Dogs and Cats from Pokrovsk

If you’ve been following our work, you know we’ve been working closely with the Dnipro team to rescue dogs from the village of Pokrovsk.

Once a lively village, Pokrovsk now has only a handful of residents left—most of them elderly people with nowhere else to go. Many pets have been abandoned, left to fend for themselves.

For the latest rescue mission, we rented a large van and filled it with food to leave behind, along with crates to bring dogs and cats to safety. During the operation, a powerful blast nearby sent a shockwave that ripped one of the van’s doors completely off.

The team left all the food behind and was able to bring back 12 dogs and cats in the damaged van. While it may not seem like a lot, every rescue makes a difference, and every life counts!

When it’s safe, we'll continue the rescue mission. A huge thank you to everyone who has made this work possible! We truly couldn’t do this without you.
