Announcing Stray No More – A Program Of Sochi Dogs

Since our founding in 2014, spay/neuter has been a cornerstone of our mission to make the world a kinder place for homeless animals. Today we’re thrilled to announce the launch of Stray No More, an ongoing program from Sochi Dogs focused on spaying homeless dogs. The program is made possible by a generous jump-start donation from the Meadows, Stephens and Babcock families to the people and dogs of Ukraine. 

The Dnipro team enlisted the help of local communities, to bring in dogs from their neighborhoods who they were caring for and the signups filled up within hours!

In addition to spaying village dogs, the Dnipro team made several trips to the more rural areas of the city that are home to feral dog colonies. Picking up these dogs is extraordinarily difficult but much needed work. 

Rescuers who help feed these dogs are incredibly grateful for this work to help end the cycle of animal suffering. Here is a video of one of the rescuers expressing their gratitude for the program and the incredible work of Dr. Losev and his team.

Emergency Veterinary Fund in Action: Mimi from Myrnyi

Mimi was found alone on the street in Myrnyi, a rural area outside Dnipro. She was incredibly skinny. It appears Mimi has something wrong with her knee joints making it difficult and likely very painful to walk. She is an incredibly sweet girl who instantly warmed up to Irene who took her to the shelter. Mimi is safe and resting at the Dnipro Shelter now. She is scheduled to see a vet to determine the cause of the issue and a possible surgery. 

A huge thank you to our Emergency Veterinary Fund donors for giving Mimi the chance to be safe, loved, and pain free.

Bringing Hope and Full Bellies to the Dogs in Dnipro!

As the war in Ukraine continues, it has become increasingly difficult for our partners in Dnipro to care for the animals in need. Many NGOs that once donated food have run out of supplies, leaving the shelters struggling to feed their dogs.

This month, Sochi Dogs stepped in to help! Thanks to our supporters, we were able to send a much-needed shipment of food to keep the dogs fed and healthy. The delivery was personally inspected by the shelter residents, and we’re happy to report it received a big thank you and a belly-up approval!

Keeping the Dnipro Shelter Animals Healthy!

Today was vaccination day at the Dnipro Shelter! To keep all the animals safe and healthy, the dogs and cats receive their annual booster shots, ensuring they stay protected against dangerous diseases. Regular vaccinations are essential, especially in a shelter environment where so many animals live together.

Thanks to the generosity of those who stepped up to help on Giving Tuesday, Sochi Dogs was able to provide enough vaccines to cover every single animal at the shelter!
