Saving Lives Against the Clock in Ukraine
Our partners in Dnipro, Ukraine, are racing against the clock to save animals from a village on the brink of shutting down.
Chaplyn, in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, was once a thriving community home to a large number of railroad workers. In recent weeks, it’s been strategically destroyed. Only 10 buildings remain standing, and everyone has left. The military has declared that the village will be shut down this month, meaning everyone needs to evacuate, and no one can enter.
This spells a death sentence for the homeless animals. They’ll be on the street under missile attacks with no protection or food.
After three attempts to enter the village, the Dnipro rescue team saved 18 lives, including 3 adult dogs, 9 puppies, two cat moms, and 4 cats! The goal is to try to get back in to rescue more animals that may have been hiding.
But for now, these new rescues need vet checks, food, vaccines, and preventative medicine before they can be moved to safe locations further west.
Sochi Dogs has promised to cover these expenses. We can’t have costs stand in the way of animal suffering. Join us: Sochidogs.org/ukraine
