Bring home a Sochi Dog

Sochi Dogs is an international dog rescue organization founded in the United States to save dogs through an active adoption program around the world, spay/neuter initiatives, and educational campaigns. Learn more about what we do here.

Adopting a Sochi dog is an incredible way to change the world for a dog and become part of a dedicated community devoted to helping animals in need. Sochi dogs make wonderful, loyal companions and they’ll always be grateful for everything you do.

Our Dogs

All dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, and assessed by a licensed veterinarian. They get monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventive medications. They arrive with an international passport and vaccination certificate. Depending on the final destination, the dogs travel either by car with a fully licensed transporter or by air.

Steps to Adopt a Sochi Dog:

1. Check out our available dogs and submit an adoption application.

2. If your application is a match for one of our available dogs, we’ll contact you within 72 hours to schedule a phone call. We do everything we can to ensure a successful placement. This means we want to learn about your home, lifestyle, and what you are looking for in a canine companion. Our matching process is one of the factors responsible for our high rate of successful adoptions.

3. Once we’re positive we have the perfect dog for you, the anticipation to meet your new best friend begins!

If your dog is located in a foster home near you then we will arrange a meeting with the foster family at a convenient location and date.
If your dog still needs to travel,  we will ask you to put down a $75 deposit. We reserve the dog for you, mark the dog status as “adoption pending” and we’ll get started on making travel arrangements and coordinating times for you to meet your new family member.

Dogs usually arrive within 1-3 weeks after the deposit is paid. You will need to pay the rest of the adoption fee when you pick up the dog. Your trial adoption period is one week from the date of pick-up, but we can be flexible if needed.

Adoption Fee

Our adoption fee covers all vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, and transportation. Depending on the final destination and the crate size the fee varies from $550 to $750.

For dogs from Ukraine: Due to the high transportation cost and additional documentation required by the CDC for dogs arriving from Ukraine, the adoption fee ranges from $650 to $850.

For adopters in the EU: Since there is no air travel involved, the adoption fee in the EU is 450 Euros. We are able to arrange transport either to the adopter’s home or a meeting point no more than two hours away.

About our Foster-to-Adopt model

All of our adopters have a 1-week trial period to decide if the dog is the right match. Should you decide the adoption is not working out, you can notify us within the first week and we will coordinate a time to take the dog back into a foster home and issue a refund of the adoption fee minus the deposit. You will need to commit to fostering the dog for 14 dogs should the placement not work out, we are usually able to find a new place for the dog faster than 14 days but in some cases, it may take the full 2 weeks. If you are happy with your adoption after one week, the adoption will be finalized.

Extensions can be made to the trial period but please get in touch with us as soon as possible if you think you will need an extension. If at any point after the adoption is finalized you become unable or unwilling to care for the dog it must be returned to us and no refund will be issued for the adoption fee.
