Hi there,

My name is Kayta and I have a very important job at the shelter - I greet visitors and collect the entrance fee (in treats!)

This job keeps me very busy, but I didn't always have this job. One day I found myself at a bus stop in the center of the city. I saw all the people get on the bus so I tried to get on the bus too but everyone just kept pushing me back. So I sat and waited. A nice lady walked by, she gave me a treat and asked what I was doing. I told her that I wanted to get on the bus like everyone else because the people who left me at the station got on the bus too and I wanted to find them. She gave me a couple of pets and then she left. I thought I'd never see her again, but she came back the next day with a car. I showed her that I needed to get on the bus again but she said I could come with her in the car. We drove around the entire city until we ended up right here at the shelter. I'm pretty lucky to be here because I don't think those people who left me were ever going to come back. They thought I was too old.

At the shelter everyone loves me just the way I am!

When I'm not collecting treats at the door, I like to nap in the sun and play with some of the other dogs. Because I'm a little bit older, I get a special little corner in the cottage where I can go if it gets too hot or too cold outside.

I'm so happy I don't have to get on any buses and I have lots of people here who love me and take care of me. Please consider sponsoring my stay at the shelter, it's just a dollar a day!
